Hammers Snub Parker Bid

West Ham have recently snubbed a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Scott Parker, their highly rated, and hard working, central midfielder. Parker has great experience in the Premier League having had spells at Newcastle United and Chelsea and always bring with him a professional and never-say-die attitude. He is a commanding central midfielder who isn’t afraid to put in the tackles and shout his orders to the rest of his team. Tottenham could do with such a player and Harry Redknapp knows this.

Tottenham finished fourth last season, which was a great achievement. However, they know they could have done better and got themselves into third. They have plenty of forward momentum, although could do with a 20 goals a season striker, and plenty of youth and creativity. What this team lacks is a commander on the field. They lack someone with plenty of fight in them in the centre of the pitch. A Patrick Viera or Roy Keane type. Scott Parker is of that build and would fit into that Tottenham team very well as he is a determined and focused footballer.

David Sullivan, co-owner of West Ham has said that, “Scott is not for sale at any price, to anyone”, which further highlights Parker’s pedigree. West Ham barely avoided relegation last season and you would have to say that Scott Parker was the reason why they stayed up. He carried that team on his back. Whether or not Redknapp puts another bid in is difficult to say. He needs a player in the mould of Parker but there are few to be found, with proven ability and experience to boot. I expect this saga to go on for a while longer.

Until then I will be watching the unfolding on my brand new widescreen. Which reminds me, if anyone knows where I can get sofas for sale cheap…I have spent the entire budget for the front room on this monster and my girlfriend is kind of on my back that we don’t have any furniture…
